On Sunday 25 April 2010 Brian Wright is running the London Marathon for Starlight Children’s Foundation.
Brian is raising money to grant the wish of 12 year old Joshua who suffers
from Osteosarcoma, a disease in which cancer cells are found in the bone. Joshua has
been through so much, and it would be great for him to have something to look forward to.
His dream, above all things, is to be able to swim with dolphins in Florida.
Joshua was first diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in his leg
2 years ago. Since then he has been in and out of
hospital, undergoing chemotherapy treatment and major
surgery to his leg, including having a prosthesis fitted.
Joshua’s mum said: “Joshua has been a real hero, hardly
ever complaining even though the side effects of the
treatment have been horrible and the pain at times
unbearable.”
It would mean so much to both Joshua and his family to have his wish of swimming with
dolphins in Florida granted. It will be a holiday that all the family can enjoy together and
treasure the memories of for years to come.
By sponsoring Brian in this year’s London Marathon you will help to bring Joshua that
much closer to his dream. Joshua’s wish will bring happiness, laughter and hope for the
future, as well a release from having to be so strong and accepting of his illness and
treatment. It will also bring together a family under enormous emotional stress, allowing
them to share in a positive and wonderful experience … no matter what the future may
hold.
